About

A Bit About Me

I received a Masters in Social Work from California State University, Northridge and have for the last 15 years navigated a varied and fulfilling career providing individual, group, and family therapy, as well as crisis intervention services for youth on probation, individuals with severe mental illness incarcerated within Washington DOC, families in crisis, and most recently children and adolescents in crisis. While with DOC, I also participated as an in-service instructor for correctional staff, teaching on the topics of mental health and suicide prevention and intervention. I have treated a multitude of diagnoses, ranging from situational stress to severe psychotic disorders. In all my experience, the common thread is trauma. I know well how trauma affects the choices we make, and how those choices propel us through life.

Collaboration with law-enforcement and first responders has been a large part of my career. I have witnessed their commitment as well as the impact their profession has on them and their families, which gives me a unique advantage in supporting these men and women who grapple with crisis and trauma in their daily work. I will provide a secure place for those in need to debrief these experiences and identify the tools needed to manage themselves in the aftermath—I will provide another avenue not only to serve and protect those they encounter everyday, but also themselves.

My extensive experience in working with children,  teens and their families, as well as being a mother myself has fueled a passion for working with mothers. I offer skills, education, and a space to process challenges mothers face. We are raising the next generation and that is no easy task. I look forward to walking alongside mothers in their journey.

I deeply believe “everything is figureoutable”, all obstacles are opportunities for growth, and we all have the ability to change how we think and respond to these obstacles which allows us to use the experience to respond more effectively in the future. My practice utilizes an eclectic approach. To best meet the needs of each client's unique situation, I tap into different evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Seeking Safety. Together we will create a plan of action and work toward achieving your goals.
